Van Wert Area Economic Development (VWAEDC) welcomes Madison Couch as a program assistant. Couch is a former CEO student in economic development and brings experience in banking and finance to the position.

The VWHS Art Club is hosting a ceramic glazing event on April 4th. Cost is $30.00 for adults and $20.00 for students.

Last week, high school juniors and seniors had the chance to learn more about careers and jobs offered by local businesses and industries all in one place.

The regular monthly meeting of the Van Wert City Schools Board of Education, scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, been moved one week to Wednesday, March 29.

Last week, approximately 105 Van Wert High School seniors participated in the 5th year of tours with local businesses and manufacturers. 

Erin Schaufelberger signed her letter of intent to play basketball at the next level.

Van Wert Elementary School and Van Wert Middle School held a fundraiser Saturday at Olympic Lanes to help raise money for their students with special needs.

We've missed NINE days of school so far this year and on days 10, 11, & 12, students will learn remotely from home from the hours of 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

The Van Wert area’s two state legislators got a chance to tour Van Wert Middle and the Elementary schools on Friday.

Van Wert City Schools, in correlation with Ohio Revised Code 3313.64 or 3313.65, will again permit students from any Ohio school district to apply for Open Enrollment in the Van Wert City Schools system for the 2023-2024 school year.  

 Students from Van Wert High School competed in the “We the People” state competition held on Friday, Feb. 3 at the Ohio Statehouse.

The United Way of Van Wert County teamed up with Van Wert City Schools to bring Cougars United back for a second year, and for the second consecutive year, it was a big success.

The CEO Program has kicked off its 7th year with Van Wert High School and 5th year of including all schools in Van Wert County.

Mackenzie Jones, a four-year member of the Van Wert High School Vocal Music Department, has been selected to perform in Columbus on Friday, February 3, as a member of the Ohio Music Education Association’s 2023 All-State Choir.

On Friday, January 27, 24 Robotics teams from around the state will be arriving at Van Wert High School for the annual Robotics Competition, where inspections and judging will take place.

Van Wert High School Earns College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award - Recognized for Closing the Gender Gap in AP Computer Science Principles

Van Wert High School has earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles. Schools honored with the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded girls’ access in AP computer science courses.

The Van Wert City Board of Education held its organizational meetings and regular January board meeting on Wednesday, electing Scott Mull the new board president, replacing Anthony Adams, and Julie Burenga as board vice president.

The Van Wert High School Choir Concert spread some holiday cheer around our community yesterday, December 13. 

The Lincolnview Lancers and Van Wert Cougars boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams will meet up on the court on Thursday, December 29, at Lincolnview High School as part of the YWCA’s kickoff to Human Trafficking Awareness month.

The Van Wert Middle School and High School Vocal Music departments invite the community to attend their Christmas Choir Concerts on Monday, December 12, at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center Auditorium.

BATH TOWNSHIP — Tall and talented Lima Bath drilled ten 3-pointers in a 60-33 win over Van Wert Thursday night. The Wildkittens are now 5-0, the Lady Cougars 1-1. It was the WBL opener for both teams.

Van Wert Lodge No. 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks have selected Van Wert High School seniors Finley Foster and Abbie Mengerink as the recipients of the Student of the Month for November.

The Van Wert Cougar Pride Marching Band earned an “Excellent”at the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) state marching band finals at Alexander Stadium in Piqua on Sunday.

History will be made at 4:45 Sunday afternoon at Piqua’s Alexander Stadium.

That’s when the Van Wert Cougar Pride Marching Band will compete in the Ohio Music Educators Association state finals for the first time ever. 

School safety and security and work at Eggerss Stadium were two of several topics addressed during Wednesday’s meeting of the Van Wert City Schools Board of Education.

As National School Bus Safety week comes to an end, the Van Wert City School District would not only like to emphasize the importance of bus safety, but also take the time to recognize and honor the drivers who often transport more than 900 students on a daily basis.

Van Wert City Schools is proud to announce that all five buildings that make up the district have been designated as Heart Safe Schools by Project ADAM. Van Wert Elementary was the first to earn the Heart Safe Designation in March 2022.

The Van Wert City School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Treasurer.

Beginning Monday, October 17, 2022 and continuing daily through Friday, October 21, 2022, Van Wert City Schools will be coordinating a state-mandated safety drill to remain in compliance with Ohio Revised Code 3313.536 and as overseen by the Ohio School Safety Center.

One thing is certain about the Ohio Department of Education’s annual school report cards – there is very little, if any consistency from year-to-year.

The Van Wert Rotarians, representing Rotary District 6600, welcomed the Class of 2023 Junior Rotarians with a grand kick-off. 

Approximately 300 freshmen and sophomore students from seven local school districts received hands-on experience in the various building trades during Day No. 1 of the Build Your Future 2022 event, held at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds on Wednesday.
